I'm having an anxiety attack as a few hours ago I had what felt like a normal BM and when I dabbed, after rinsing and cleaning with my water sprayer, the TP was bright red. The stool was also filled with blood. I have pain as well, but I have pain every day. I'm past a year after take down so this is freaking me out. I have had blood in the past but never this much. In other words I don't think it's a broken blood vessel and know it's not hemmorides. I'm getting my first pouch scope Monday so will wait until then. I'm just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience so long after surgery. I've taken a xanex, 2 norco (10 mg total hydrocodone) 2 pepto chewables and an immodium. It's and hour and a half since I took the xanex and norco and Im a little calmer but still in pain. I've been reading old posts and done around 3 or 4 searches. If anyone is awake and knows anything please post.

Are you still bleeding? I wouldn't wait until Monday; call the doc in the a.m. and get in there as urgent. If it is really a lot of blood and you continue with it, I might even consider going into emerg. You don't want to mess around with blood loss. On the other hand, do remember that it can look like a lot, when it's really just a small, thin amount. If you're still bleeding and/or the pain is different somehow, I think you need to be seen. Thanks GinLyn, I'm still up, another sleepless night but that goes with the territory. I've stopped bleeding, at least for now. If it starts up again I'm taking your advice and calling my surgeon. I appreciate your help in the middle of the night ~~~~~ You can't change the direction of the wind, but you can adjust your sails ~~~~~

toughenough I would not get overly alarmed. I have been bleeding on and off for a while now and after my scope they found mild inflammation in my cuff. I also had blood in my stool today and I have even been on hydrcortisone suppositories for a couple of days. I would call the surgeon or nurse this morning though to tell them what is gong on. Good luck with the scope.

Thanks kjeane, I wish these things wouldn't throw me into a tizzy. He's in a different office today so I'll wait until my scope appt - unless it starts up again. There was more fresh blood than I've ever had and I hadn't seen any for at least 6 months. I'm such a big baby sometimes! ~~~~~ You can't change the direction of the wind, but you can adjust your sails ~~~~~

I agree with the others to call your doc. I know you have a scope Monday but my rule now is if I see blood I am calling the doc asap. How bad is your pain? Let us know how your scope turns out. Hi toughenough, I get cuffitis and sometimes the inflammation gets to the stage where I have blood in my BMs. I've had this happen where its been a fair amount of blood for one or two BMs then it stopped and I had no further problems. I've also had it happen twice where the blood continues with every BM and I've had to go into hospital, this is in the 9.5 years I've had the pouch and it does happen from time to time unfortunately. This needed antibiotics and rest to sort it out for me. Sometimes blood transfusion would be necessary if you have been bleeding for a few days. Best thing to do is get it dealt with quick so you can rest at ease knowing you are being seen to - don't leave it and hope it will go away if it starts again. Let us know how you get on. It is VERY upsetting to have this surgery and then realize you are still bleeding, so you are far from being a baby. I know I was very alarmed when I first noticed it and I am still concerned that is it still there, but after my scope on Tuesday my surgeon did not seem alarmed by it. As a matter of fact he told me many people come in to see him and claim they are feeling great and when he scopes them he finds some type of inflammation in their pouch. So it sounds to me like inflammation in the pouch is not uncommon and sometimes it is mild enough that it really does not cause symptoms in people. Good luck and try and stay calm until they scope you and see what is going on, unless of course your symptoms worsen.

Kjeane, you are absolutely right, it is a totally understandable reaction to seeing blood in your BM, it brings about all kinds of worry so you are not being a baby toughenough. If you have stopped bleeding, best advice for now is to rest up as much as you can and drink plenty of fluids if you can. Take it easy for a bit.. Dociuos alle expilistic fragil cali super

Thanks everybody, Luke that's just what I'm going to do today is rest and nothing. I had 2 appts yesterday and I'm cancelling one for today, non medical, as I got no sleep. Thank you for your support - all that blood just brings back bad memories...... ~~~~~ You can't change the direction of the wind, but you can adjust your sails ~~~~~

every several months or so, like a few days ago i went to bathroom and toilet was full of blood. then my next bowel movement nothing at all. strange? i know i have had a fissure in the past and internal hemrhoid so i am guessing it was either of those. alot of blood gets me nervous but when it completely disappears after the first time i chalk it up to the fissure or the roid. i have moderate cuffitis and IgG4 pouchitis as well so who the hell knows.. Well it's something but I'm not freaking out anymore, whats the worst that could happen? I have had more blood but not a whole stool full and am having more pain. I counted my pain pills and have enough to last until my scheduled scope on Monday. It's actually pretty good timing now that this has happened. I ate chicken noodle soup and applesauce with my VSL#3DS. Next meal rice krispie treat and a banana, a modified version of the BRAT diet. Thanks Poucho Marx, I was about ready to go to the ER last night but things slowed down. I should realize by now that nothing is going to be normal normal again and things are going to happen. ~~~~~ You can't change the direction of the wind, but you can adjust your sails ~~~~~

It could be cuffitis but I'm guessing it's just one of those things. Blood vessals are very close to the surface in the canal and when they bleed they can produce an alarming amount of blood. But then it goes away. Years ago I started experiencing the blood thing, made an appointment with a (horrid) GI, had initial appointment, returned a week or so later for a scoping, no scope was performed (see above - horrid GI). But, during the time between the initial sighting of the blood and the (no) scope, the bleeding stopped. For no reason that I could figure out. Don't be too concerned about occasional bleeding if it is not accompanied by other symptoms. (In your case it may be a little more difficult since you say you're in pain all the time.) Even if the bleeding continues for a number of days, it could just be one of those things. And don't EVER eat beets if you want to avoid those panic attacks. Kathy thanks for the advice. My pain and frequency have increased too but I'm not going to die. I scheduled my pouch scope for Monday a few weeks ago as I wanted to see what was going on. I was thinking I might have a stricture or something like that. So hopefully all is normal but I'm a Debbie Downer these days.. I love beets and know what you mean, lol. I'm not freaking out anymore, just taking more pain meds and watching my diet - although I don't know what good that will do. You are all awesome caring and intellegent people. I bet you all look like moive stars too. ~~~~~ You can't change the direction of the wind, but you can adjust your sails ~~~~~
