Obviously it varies due to what you eat, what you are taking medicinally, and how your body digests things.
I have heard it takes around 2 hours for food to get out of your stomach. From there, I have found that non-fatty foods usually take another 4 hours or so (6 hours total to pass through). With a high-fiber and/or high-fat diet, and some immodium, it is taking more like 9 hours.

Everything goes through me within 20-30 minutes. Different foods all take different amounts of time- pasta can take 30 minutes, whereas I will pass raw veggies within 5 minutes of consuming them. I don't know if thats normal, so maybe don't listen to me if you're trying to find a general idea. I believe I am on the extreme side of transit times.

Beets and spinach? Touches the mouth and it's out the other end. And what beautiful colors the beets make. Of course, the first time you're absolutely sure you've just hemorrhaged and every drop of blood in your system has just been evacuated into the toilet. You just pick yourself up off the bathroom floor after you've passed out and rethink what you've eaten. Spinach comes out the same way it went in. You could probably repackage it for resale.
Other foods take longer.

HAHAHA kathy thats hysterical because its so true! I swear, one day, I'm going to drink a full gallon of a different color of kool-aid everyday- my boyfriend wants to document it and make a slideshow of the rainbow. Sometimes I look into the toilet and I'm like "OH MY GOD I AM HEMMORAGING FROM MY INTESTINES....ohp, wait, no, I forgot I ate tons of cranberry sauce at dinner." And then blueberries...oh, don't even get me started.

Totally depends on what I eat. Generally, I'll see my lunch or dinner just a couple of hours after I eat it. Some things, I'd see within 30 minutes of eating them, its usually pretty obvious. Bits of lettuce, skin from any fruit or veggie, and yes beets. I had just beets for a snack once and I'll NEVER do that again. Looked like I had a pint of blood hangin off my side.
