I'm getting some bleeding from the pouch during the night and mornings after having step 1 2 months ago, is this a normal thing and will it improve? I'm also getting a lot of fluid and mucus (I thought it was pus before) leaking from the pouch. I've contacted my doctor but the hospital (st marks) I go to are always very busy. Is this something I need to be concerned about? There is a bit of blood loss every time I have to empty the pouch during the night (2 times) but this fades during the day.
Thanks all Faisal |

send a PM to martiangirl(Ewa).
She is in London. She had takedown recently. I think this is normal. She will set your mind at ease |

Faisal,
It is best to mention any and all bleeding to you doctor just to be on the safe side. Every one is different. I had bleeding like you described after my step 1. I was told it was normal. I am sure it is nothing for you to be alarmed about as long as you are not experiencing pain with it but give the doc a call any way. Good luck, Dale |

leakage is normal from the pouch. You are keeping the intestine moist. It you see a ton of blood, then call. My doc said if you are not bleeding to death, you are ok.

Faisal,
I had huge amount of mucous coming out of my pouch before takedown. It bothered me because I had to wear sanitary pads all the time and at times i d literally flood them, especially after going for a walk. I also had episodes of some bleeding which i d notice when i went to pee ..blood seemed to drip from my bottom. I contacted the surgeon who wasnt unduly concerened. Apparently some bleeding is to be expected. Small amount on paper when you wipe your bottom is ok. If you consistently bleed every day large amounts of red blood its best to be checked out. Having fever and sharp pain is also a warning sign something is not right. But mucous and some blood is to be expected as part of healing process. My worry over incontinence were unfounded,,after takedown the mucous was not a problem any more but i still have some bleeding at times due to straining. Love your bum |

Thanks for your replies all. I'm not bleeding in large amounts so your replies are very reassuring. I am getting it checked by my surgeon just to be on the safe side, but I think everythings ok.
Thank you Faisal |
