Hi all,
I got home from the hospital last night. So far I think everything is going good. I haven't been using the bathroom too much. I try to hold it as long as I can before I go. I have made it through the past two nights with no leakage and not getting up to go. (knock on wood) I can feel everything going through me. Is this normal? I guess it may be gas. My Dr. told me not to take immodium until it gets really bad. He said wait about 3-4 days. Anyway...any suggestions would be greatly appriciated! |

Welcome Home!
It is normal to be sensitive to everything passing through your new plumbing system in the beginning, but it does get better with time. It's still very early days yet. It sounds like you are right on track so keep up the good work. Take care One glass of red wine per day is good for the heart..... it's just that mine's a big heart so I need a very big glass!!!! D-| Cheers! |

I remember being about a month post td and reading multiple posts from many of the jpouch old timers about "giving it time." I am not a very patient person, so wanted that time to be now! But, guess what? Time does matter. I am three months post td tomorrow. What a difference. I take immodium three times a day, probiotics morning and night, fibre wafers or cookies three times a day. It still go quite a few times, but don't pay attention to it...don't really care. Consistency is good. Occasional loose stool. No more butt burn. Itching once in a while. Life is good. "Give it time" is the best advice available. Talked to a guy three years out and he said it was still getting better. Best of luck to you.

I am so glad to hear your doing great!!!!
Seems like yesterday(I think it was May or June)you were talking about having the first surgery - time does seem to fly by. How long were you in the hospital with the second surgery? David Go Colts |

Hi Dave
I had my surgery Monday and Dr. let me go home on Wednesday. The surgery went great. It only took one hour. However, they must have used a different kind of anasthesia because when I woke I was nauseated. They kept giving me nausea medicine but it kept making me crazy so they would have to counter act it with benadryl. I threw up a few times between Monday and Tuesday night which really hurt!! But I pooped and farted and so they let me go. I have more pain in my stomach with this surgery than the last one. You know like where the stoma was. I just hope that is the healing process. As for my BM's. I think I am doing great. I have not taken any Immodium yet and I go when I want to. Sometimes I feel the gas going through and wanting to come out but I hold it in until I am on the pot! Anyother questions PM me. When are you scheduled for your 2nd step? |
