I just got a letter saying that BCBS will no longer be covering Loperamide as of Sept 1st, the letter says that its available OTC. It also has VSL DS as no longer covered too. Anyone else get this and is there anything we can do? Thanks, Scott Mc

Hello there Scott!

YES! There is, indeed, something you can do. I can't speak about the VSL, but as for the loperamide, you can indeed buy it OTC.

It's the same thing as Imodium, so you can buy that in any store. Or, you can buy the store-brand Imodium (loperamide) for somewhat cheaper. OR, the best bet, what I do, is to join Costco, if you already are not a member, and buy it there. You can buy 400 caplets for $5.49. That lasts me for 100 days!

There's plenty of options out there for ya, so don't despair. Smiler
