Hi there.. just curious.. i'm 8 days post jpouch and take down and i'm starting to go to the bathroom a little more frequently.. i'm assuming because i'm eating more food.. is it normal to sort of feel that inflamation feeling in the rectum when you go? (it kind of feels like it did with UC). i understand that it is probably still swolen from everything so is this normal??
any thoughts would be great.. thx Wendy |

Yeah...thats pretty normal. It seems alot of people breeze through this surgery...I didn't. I can say I really hurt after this one. It seemed like I sprained my butt. It really hurt where my rectum should have been. It took a good 2 months to start feeling better. Then I got my first bout of pouchitis. I suffered with it about a month because I didn't think I could have that already. But I did. Infact after 14 days of cipro, it didn't take care of it, a week later I had to start another 14 days. When the pouchitis is under control, (which is actually within 6 hours of taking the first cipro) I feel great. Last August after my first step, and in December after my takedown, I didn't think I would ever get here. But here I am!
Have a fabulous day! UC...1985 Step one...Aug '06, Takedown...Dec '06 Emergency SBO Surgery...Oct '07 Jan '08 Bartholin gland removed, kidney stint placed June '08 diagnosed with dysplasia in bladder. Oct '08 diagnosed w/ Crohns Nov '08 Seton drain placed |

It's totally normal. I am almost 3 months post takedown and I still get that feeling from time to time. As long as the seam/joint where your pouched was hooked back up is still healing you can have that sensation. It definitely improves a lot over the first month so just hang in there and rest as much as you can to help the healing process along
