Hey Everyone,
Just got back from my doctor today.. I am six weeks post-td.. Around my third week, I cramped after eating a hamburger patty, potatoes, and carrots.. New Years day I had a blockage and I wanna blame myself for that one because I ate a yeast roll with honey mustard too fast....(It just got the best of me!)... I have noticed since that time, when I eat heavy foods (beef, mash potatoes, carrots..) about four hours later I began to cramp and notice a bulge just below my old ostomy site... It feels like the food moves through it, the budge goes down, and the cramp fades... It cycles for a couple of hours, or more.... My doctor ruled out a hernia and they looked for an obstruction inside the bowel, but didn't find anything.. (checked the reconnection from the ostomy).. I can eat light, like a sandwich and stuff without a problem.. Am I trying to progress to fast? Do I need to give myself more time?? Anyone had a similar problem? Thanks Much! Chris |

Were the carrots uncooked?
I doubt the roll was the culprit. Did the potato have skin? Yes, I think too fast. There are probably quite a few folks who have bulges, lumps etc at old stoma site. Alot was done in there. Take it easy and try a heating pad for the cramps. |

Thanks for your reply Holly. I have been doing good now for a week. Just taking it easy, eating small meals several times a day, plus making sure I chew chew chew..
