Hi -

Just had takedown on Monday and I began religiously applying Calmo after every trip to the bathroom. However, I haven't put it on at all today, and have noticed no difference.

Now, I am only four days post-op, and I am only eating things like toast, soup (but it's tomato soup with milk in it), eggs with cheese - soft foods...so, when does butt burn usually start?

And, does everyone get it to some degree? Or do some of us have such smart asses (oh, that was not funny, but yes, I went there) that we don't ever get it?

Bascially, I'm wondering if I should go back to the calmo, even though I have no butt burn as of yet.

thanks,
Lisa

I'd say stop for now and see how your smart ass fares. Maybe it's brilliant and will never cause you problems. That would be a very good thing.

Lisa, I never really had butt burn either. The only food that bothered me in the very beginning was watermelon, and it was probably because of the sugar content. But after a few weeks it never bothered me again. If I were you, I would just watch my liquid sugar intake for a little while. It sounds like you're doing great. I hope things continue to go well.

I have never had butt burn. I do get anal irritation on occasion but not the type of burning pain that many describe. Count yourself lucky!

Red sauce does it for me marinara sauce basically really anthing tomato based. It's not so much burning I would describe it feeling like the skin on the outside is raw. When I first got it bad, I thought it was from wiping too much, but I soon realized that was not the issue. So you might mistake your skin getting raw but it will go away after a few hours with some calmoseptine, also that stings a little when you put it on, but a little pain isn't bad for hour or two of relief. If you have it real bad a nice bath seems to help me. Just be careful of trying to take a shower and using warm water in soap that hurts pretty bad.

Hi Lisa,

I'm glad its going so well for you. I would say if you don't have BB yet with your diet, when you start to introduce new things at the first sign of BB you get (if you do) WRITE IT DOWN. Start keeping track early so you can know. I know my first bout of bb was with raw onions. I ate some salmon spread that was way to heavy on the onions.....whoa.

Right after my surgery I was following the same diet but I wasn't paying attention to foods for BB reasons. I was paranoid about blockages and chalked BB up to normal healing.

As the months went by I could eat everything without a blockage but had a lot of BB and irritation. At that point I didn't know what could be causing it cuz I was eating everything. So just recently I start experimenting with my diet and since I cut out raw veggies and fresh fruit (which I was going overboard on) I feel so much better.

Hopefully you'll be one of those who don't deal with it too much, but even people with colons get occassional BB

Spicy food does it for me. Lots of output. Even the mildest like the spiced up potato chips "buffalo bleu" gives me the runs.
