These questions are directed to those of you who have had the two-step j-pouch surgery (removal of colon with creation of j-pouch and temporary loop ileostomy, then takedown to remove the ileostomy and restore the small intestine function). I know that everybody's different, but I'm trying to get a handle on your experiences, as I contemplate scheduling my own takedown surgery. I'm trying to estimate how much time I should plan to be off work. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
Diagnosed with Chronic Ulcerative Colitis in 1986. First-step of 2-step j-pouch surgery January 9, 2006. Takedown June 16, 2008. |
