Hi Everyone,
Months ago I remember reading some really funny bowel/colitis poems and songs set to familiar tunes that J-pouchers had written and posted.. I would really like to print them off and take them to the hospital with me when I have my takedown on May 25th? (just to keep my spirits up. Step 1 was rough and my hubby printed off some supportive messages from j-pouch and I read them over and over again) Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thank you in advance uc (pan) diagnosed 1991 at age 15 open step 1 at age 30- sept 2006 takedown- May 25th, 2007 Still some pretty rough days..trying to hang in there.. |

Andrea, I don'¨t have songs but just some words of encouragement: takedown is a doddle compared with step 1, don't fret. Bring some music, something nice to read and lots of butt cream and soft toilet paper! Expect to run to the loo a lot as your pouch gets going. Believe me, you'll be surprised how much easier takedown is than step 1. Hand on my heart, I was not in pain. Good luck! Swift recovery

Good luck Andrea..second is easier...as long as you go in good health. And life with out uc, is better too!
As for the "artists" of the poems/songs....thank goodness for you and your good sense of humor. Us newbies sure appreciate it! Peace, Sue SUE |

Thanks Cathy! All printed off and packed with the Charmin and Calmoseptine!
Thanks for the words of encouragement Soph and Sue!! I will add some books and music (I took both to the first surgery but seriously it was the last thing on my mind)...I also got some ativan (sp?) this week as my nerves tend to get the better of me since Step 1... Thanks again Andrea uc (pan) diagnosed 1991 at age 15 open step 1 at age 30- sept 2006 takedown- May 25th, 2007 Still some pretty rough days..trying to hang in there.. |

Don't forget lip balm and take your own pillow. It definitely helps!

Andrea - I agree with the others, it's a breeze compared to before. I had no pain and no real problems except BB, but with the calmoseptine you should be fine - wet wipes for sensitive butts are essential too! For entertainment I found short stories on tape were the best - less hard work than reading. You could download some if you can beg or borrow an mp3 player.
All the best, let us know how it goes. gillian |
