When I was sick in the hospital before my colon ruptured I would try to go on little outings and go downstairs and walk around in the gift shop or to the cafeteria. I looked pretty rough and definitely sickly. I had my hospital gown on and a robe and my IV pole was close by.
Well my Dad liked to have fun with people on the elevator. When we got on people looked a little worried because I was so sickly lookly so Dad would say, "Everyone's had scarlett fever vacinations, right?" He made up some new sickness each time. You should have seen the look on those poor people's faces. They would all shift as much as they could to the other side of the elevator. I would just give a weak little smile and let them know he was kidding.
Even though you know a person with a serious contagious disease probably isn't going to be walking around the hospital it still makes you nervous and question when someone says something like that. Ahhhh, my Dad...
