Hi all,
Short history: UC diagnosed 12/1/04 Hospitalized 12/7/04 did respond at all to meds surgery step 1 of 2 12/23/04 Surgery to undo blockage and clean up wound infection 12/30/04 Takedown 6/15/05 Random small pockets of fluid treated with antibiotics because I had a fever too: 8/15/05 and 10/15/05 And then smooth sailing until December 2006. I started having a slightly harder time emptying and my tummy was noisier. Last month I noticed my pants didn't button as well but I thought I was just gaining weight. 3 weeks ago I work up with what I though was a gall bladder attack - pain in my upper right abdomen. It subsided but I made an appointment to see me PC last friday. She ordered and ultrasound of my gall bladder. My gall bladder looks great but there is 1.5 liters of fluid behind my right kidney and around my uterus. What the heck? She thinks it is from scar tissue trapping fluid. I have a call into my surgeon so he can look at the scans and give and opinion. Anyone have experience with this? I am al little freaked to think I have the equivalent of 3/4 of a 2 liter Coke bottle hiding in my tummy. Now I understand mother other symptoms of a achy lower right back (thought is was from lugging my 2 yo around) and my slightly elevated blood pressure. Any advice? Thanks! Anyone? Jan, is 1.5 liters a lot? Am I freaking out over nothing? We are planning to leave for a Spring Break Trip tonight - any reason I shouldn't go and then deal with this when I get home?

Hi Tanya
I also get fluid accumulation in my pelvis. For me it is a large cyst caused by fluid becoming trapped in the adhesions. I get bloated, slightly nauseous and have difficulty emptying the pouch when the cyst gets big....mine was 15cm ....much smaller than what you described I think. I was told mine was softball sized. The drs called mine a peritoneal inclusion cyst. I was really scared at first but they drained it and tested the fluid and it is benign. It refills every few months and I have it redrained. I am not sure what you have is the same but i do understand what you are going through. Please feel free to PM me if you want. I hope you can relax a little and enjoy spring break. |
