Has anyone developed a rash while taking Diflucan?? I have been on Diflucan for 3 weeks for what the Dr thinks is an intestinal yeast infection. About 2 days ago I noticed a bumpy red rash starting on my face. It is around my mouth, on my cheeks and above my nose. It is worse today than yesterday. It is slightly itchy and sore. I also have had a headache and get a low grade fever in the afternoons. Is this something I should be worried about? Has this happened to anyone?? Maybe it has nothing to do with the Diflucan?? Should I call my GI doc who put me on the Diflucan or my primary doc?? Thanks for the help!!

I googled "diflucan side effects" and got this:

http://www.drugs.com/Diflucan/index.html

It lists rash. Read what it says for more information. Any prescription you are taking will be online and easily found with a google search. I am in the habit of checking all my medications for side effects, interactions and precautions. Our pharmacist is good, but human. I want to double check, as it is my body and my life. I encourage anyone here to do this as well . . .

And, you can (and should) always call your pharmacist of you are not sure of a drug that you are taking.

Thanks for the replies. It turns out it is not related to the Diflucan. It is Rosacea. It is funny but now that I think of it, I had facial flushing and had a rashy face when I was flaring badly with the UC before having surgery.

Does anyone else have this? Is there a connection between the inflammation of UC/ pouchitis and Rosacea?

Thanks for the help

I have rosacea. My rheumatologist diagnosed it in a second. She didn't comment on the relationship between it and UC, but just said she sees rashes all the time, so she tends to focus in on them. I use Metrogel when it is flaring.

And, I am supposed to stay away from things that make me get overheated (like how?) In retrospect, I have always easily flushed, even as a young girl.

Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass.

I have rosacea type rashing on my face and get splotchy rach on my shoulders, neck, chest and back. My feet also peel and get dry and crack and bleed that I use a steriod cream when it gets bad. Now that I have UC I think that there is a corilation and is immunity related.

I did a little searching on the Internet and found a few articles that support the possibility of a link between UC/IBD and Rosacea. It seems there is some kind of correlation between intestinal issues and Rosacea.

http://www.articleclick.com/Article/Causes-of-Rosacea--...-Risk-Factors/975939

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2146313

I don't think any definitive correlation has been made yet but enough people have both that there is research on a connection between them being done.
