I have been reading up on pouchitis and I seem to have many of the symptoms (frequency increase, watery, abdominal pain, fatigue)Is there anything that we can do besides meds? I have been taking proabotics. I am also having vaginal pain. Just overal pain, burning and irritation. I was treated for a vaginal tract infection about a month ago and just started the pill to help with cramping. Could these issues be related? Anyone have a clue as to what is going on down below for me? Thanks.

I beleive the probiotics are very useful for preventing pouchitis, but if you do in fact have it now, the probiotics probably won't "cure" it. For that, I think it's the standard Cipro-or-Flagyl routine. Once you've kicked the infection, then the probiotics can (hopefully) prevent a recurrence.

What were you given for your vaginal infection? If it was an antifungal, shouldn't be a problem, unless it was ineffective and you need stronger dosing. Sounds like you still have the vaginal infection.

But if it was an antibiotic, that could have precipitated this also.

You need to call your GYN back and get on more treatment. Flagyl would be a good choice.

Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass.
