With 2/3 of your colon, you don't need a j-pouch and I think may not have any huge issues after reversal. I assume your surgery due to something other than UC, as a partial colectomy is not recommended in that situation.

I've had crohn's for a few years now and had a narrow section of the intestine. A month ago I had a blockage that perforated and filled my stomache with fluid - so they had to do an emergency surgery and I woke up with the bag. Scary - but hopefully all will work out with the reversal.

I'm with Connie on this one. You should not have any serious issues related to a small colon resection, maybe some loose stools for a while. The main concern I might have in your situation is a stricture developing at the anastomosis (connection) of the ileum to the remainder of your colon. Also, you may have a fair amount of adhesions due to the results of the perforation. These could complicate things by causing more obstructions. So, you just basically need to be alert, but it sounds like you know the drill in that respect. Jan
Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass.
