Here is the problem,1 month after takedown I am unable to pass very much stool. When I first sit down everything emptys fine ( about 1/2 to 1 cup ). Then while waiting to pass more I begin to have these uncontrolled contractions where my body is attempting to push out more. I can't make them stop and they last for 5-10 seconds each time, and I may have up to 10. During these moments some gas and stool may pass but not much.I am also unable to urinate sitting down as where before the takedown I could do just fine.I did have a small stricture that has been dialated and has offered no relief, and it doesn't matter if I go without any meds to slow things down. Was scheduled for CT scan today but cancelled due to being unable to keep the contrast down. Any ideas would be appreciated because I am about to give up.

P.S. Akteacher I hope you are feeling better and was wondering if you may know of a Akdave by any chance ?

I remember those 'contractions'. It felt like I had my colon back. The good news is that they will pass with time. The only time I experience them now is if I have eaten something that REALLY disagrees with me and its like my innards work overtime to get rid of it. If you are experiencing them every time you go to the bathroom perhaps talk to your surgeon or GI and they may be able to prescribe you something to calm things down.

As for the stricture and urination, I can't help you there but I'm sure that someone will be along to offer you some advice.

Keep in mind that you're only a month past takedown and it takes much longer than that to have your body adjust to its new configuration. Its frustrating but give it some time.

Good luck,

Suzanne

Yuk. Those butt spasms are so annoying. I still get them, like M&S, after eating something that really burns and runs. It just feels like the sphincter wants to keep pushing and I can't tell if I really need to go more or not. I usually just ignore it at that point and get up. Getting up relieves that pressure.

As for the peeing, I know what you mean. For the first week or two I could only pee sitting if I leaned to one side and forward (far enought to relax. Give that a try.
