Everyone is different, but some (i would say most) have no appetite for much longer, feel nauseated. Since it's a loop ileo, means you also had j-pouch creation with this surgery, which is much bigger surgery. Don't force yourself to eat and take it easy.

I ended up drinking Ensure just to get calories in my after all my gut surgeries. Start slow with easy to digest stuff, mashed potatoes always tasted good, rice, pudding, cream of wheat and oatmeal. Peanutbutter became a staple in my diet. Most important is to stay hydrated, gatorade and the like plus tea and water. I used real sugar in my tea for exta calories. Dehydration makes you feel awful and nauseated.

Keep it simple and bland for awhile.

Thanks for replies. Every little bit of info helps. Currently I feel tired, Slightly nauseated and the thought of eating anything makes me feel even more sick. his recovery is much more difficult then the first one. I'm very frustrated and desperately want my strength and apatite back.

I do not want to speak for others, but I did not have much of an appetite for a week or two after my surgery.

Like Selma, I drank Ensure. My brother liked Boost. Some posts I have read said that both have too much sugar, but they worked for us.

I was surprised to find that very small, frequent "meals" not only did the trick, nutrition-wise, they also lessened my nausea! Toast a bagel and spread smooth peanut butter on it. Just take a bite "whenever" you think of it.....followed by a swallow of Ensure or Boost. Fortunately, or not so fortunately, my appetite came back with a vengeance and only joining Weight Watchers put me back on the right track!

My appetite was nonexistent after step 2 for about 4 weeks or so.

Than it exploded Wink

Was eating 12-14000 calories a day as well as 200 ounces of water a day due to such quick pass through.

Stay hydrated and eat small meals until you start feeling better.

Best to you

Derek
