Has anyone had this happen? I had my colon removed over two months ago and I have blood and stool exit my bottom every couple of days. I get the urgency to go to the bathroom and it happens. I am disconnected right now, so how is this happening?? Is it normal??

Common occurrence with the loop ileostomy. The pouch really isn't completely disconnected. There is just a hole in the small bowel where most of the stool is supposed to go into your bag. If your bag is full, your clothes too tight, or the stoma is swollen, it will just keep on going to the j-pouch.

This is such a common question and it always amazes me that the docs do not tell you not to be surprised by it.

Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass.
