Hi all, I have been having a tough time of it for the past few months. I figure my anal fissure healed about mid Nov 07, I started taking a course of Flagyl on Dec 29/07, then Cipro Jan 14/08 and then Flagyl and Doxycycline together Feb 28/08 all for what I thought was pouchits but now my symptoms are returning again. I start out by feeling naseaus after I eat for about 3 hrs to the point after awhile I don't want to eat. My BM's start to go down hill about the same time I don't want to eat. Where I have to go more, can't make it through the night without going and urgency. I also feel quite tired and unwell during this time. Since my last course of antibiotics I have been exhausted physically. I was just wondering if this sounds like recurring pouchitis or something different? The only symptom that is throwing me off from when I normally have pouchitis is the feeling unwell and naseaus for so long after I eat, no matter what I eat.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I have been taking acidipholis on a regular basis as well. My naturopath and I have compared Udo's to the VSL and came to the conclusion that they are quite close in form and amount, so that is what I have been taking along with another type of acidpholis (Garden of Life, Primal Defense and Fungal Defense). |

Nausea is not a common pouchitis symptom. Are you still taking any antibiotics or other new meds? Make sure you are staying hydrated and getting enough potassium. Since you get nausea after eating, see your doctor to check for obstructions, gall bladder disease, etc. Here's an informative article:

I am currently not taking any anitbiotics or on any meds. I drink 2-3 litres of water a day and take a multivitamin a day amongst others. I will read the article thank you.
I am beginning to think this is something all together but is affecting my BM's. When I do get pouchitis if I leave it too long eventually it will cramp after I eat but not feel nausea. But why do I feel better while on the antibiotics? Thank you, Sonja |

If you have a chronically inflamed gallbladder, the antibiotics can put it into remission temporarily, hence you feel better.
Jan Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass. |
