after step 1, are there any signs or symptoms that one might have pouch issues after takedown?


Diagnosed UC 1996
Surgery due to Low Grade Dysplasia
Step 1- April 4th, 2008
Step 2 - Aug.8th 2008
Had surgery at The Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland,OH.

There are not too many signs/symptoms of pouch issues that are reliable. For example, some people suffer pouchitis symptoms after step 1 but it is caused by the lack of food passing through the pouch and resolves itself after takedown. So in that example, it would be bad to assume you would have problems in the future.

Other issues can be discovered after step 1: strictures, fissures, fistulas, etc. All may point to issues in the future, but you really can't say either way for sure.
