I am kind of going through the same thought process, but I have had my pouch for 7 years. I have been on antibiotics all most the entire time. I feel that the antibiotics have slowly become ineffective. I have had a lot of problems over the past 2 years with fistulas and abscesses and pain. I just went to the Cleveland Clinic yesterday for a exam under anesthesia find out if it is a 7 year old leak or Crohn's. The Doc's still can't give me an answer. I can tell you that when I was on the antibiotics and they were working well. I had very few problems with my pouch, but still had to take drugs every day. Now I'm not so sure if I should try again.
I think you will find it with-in yourself what will best work for you, but agree that you should ask as many people as possible hopefully some with good experiences as well. Good Luck.
