I sware, everyday I wake up since my TD surgery something else is going on. This is the second time this has happened but the pain if far worse. On Saturday I spent a ton of time laying on my stomach in order to get gas out. When I woke up on Sunday my lower belly was really swelled up and the right side hurt under my old stoma hole. I was icing it thinking m muscles were just really irritated from laying on them. When I woke up this morning, the pain on my right side is so bad I can hardly walk. It's like even the skin hurts to touch. The swelling is .much better than yesterday and I'm passing everything and using the bathroom just fine. It hurts so bad, what the heck is it? Please help.

How long has it been since your TD?
It sounds like adhesion or scar tissues around you stoma site.
Have you called your surgeon?
Hope you feel better soon.

You need to contact your doctor. This could be an abscess or a blockage. Don't take anything to slow the bowel down (like imodium or lomotil). Drink warm liquids.

But you absolutely need to call your doctor.

This far out from your surgeries, and the number of surgeries you've had, I would think the most likely culprit is adhesions causing obstructions, kinks, and whatnot. Severe pain should always be addressed by the doctor. If you've had imaging in the past and they can't find anything, then it is even more likely tobe due to adhesions. You may need yet another surgery to sort it all out. Good luck finding a willing surgeon....

Hey guys, thanks for all the info. I ended up going to the hospital on Monday and staying Monday and tuesday. It turns out I have a very large hematoma (sp?. It is actually starts midline and branches out on both sides of my incision. My surgeon said that there wasn't much she could do for me other than to manage my pain. She said that eventually it will drain out of the incision and my body will absorb it. So I don't know, it just hurts a ton!!!

At first I was confused why you should be having a hematoma at this point, but I see in your profile that you had a second takedown just last month...now that makes sense!!

I've had seromas (what is left over after the hematoma breaks down) in my incisions, and they are a pain. They either create a hard lump that needs to be drained, or eventually spit the incision open and drain by themselves. Either way, a nuisance! You could try a heating pad to try to speed things up a bit...
