For about the past week I have been having a good amount of leakage from my rectum. This is my second temp. illeo ostomy. I had reconstruction surgery and my stoma is a little weird this time. Has two openings but my problem is the top where the waste is supposed to come out of is sort of bent over pointing directly at the hole leading to j-pouch. A couple times when my pouch seems to be a little tight it will just force the fecal matter down that area. Today especially I've had to change my bad 3 times because if I make the bag too small it goes down the wrong hole instead of into my bag. If it's too large it goes all over my skin. Sometimes it seems like no matter what I do it will just push it into the wrong hole. This causes me cramping and a lot of leaking all day. I have been able to push a little of it out but am now seeing a lot of blood. It's only been 3 weeks since my pouch correction and I am scared because obviously the temp illeo is there to give my pouch time to heal. Any suggestions do you think I'll have to have a new illeostomy made. I've seen an ostomy nurse couple weeks ago before the stoma got really bent over, but I don't know what to do now. Anybody else have this problem.

Yes, I had the same thing. I guess when they measure you for the stoma site, you are laying down in surgery. Sometimes, for me there was swelling and on the third week went down enough to let things work. I had a small amount of blood from the waste on the skin around the stoma site.I called the nurse and went back in for a look. She pushed the skin in on the bottom of the stoma area, then attached the bag. It gave me a quarter of an inch. It gave me enough time to heal before the takedown. That area has to heal before they do the takedown. Call someone... my best to you. Arthur
