Its blood again.
Yesterday I had a episode of blood while wiping myself on toilet paper after jogging..no bowel movement...then no blood for the rest of the day..Then today again, I felt desire to empty, could not and I wiped myself and the paper was bright red...thru 3 wipes!!! no blood on bowl. It never seems to happen along with a bowel movement. I don't feel ill at all and called my surgeon who prescribed steroid cream. He was not alarmed at all and did not want to see me until my next app. in april. He did not even ask me to stop working out or lifting weights. How can blood be normal??? Take down was Oct 31st |

Hi! I've had a j pouch for several years now and I had the same thing happen to me. It really scared me. My Dr. told me I had "fishers." He prescribed a steroid cream. At first I thought that's too much blood to be fishers. But I did what I was told and after a little while I was fine-no more blood. I've had a couple of episodes since then. Don't worry!

Hi Mark, I'm not sure mine is the same or not but after 5 years this still happens to me once in-a-while usually after I have been doing something phyical. I would check with your Doctor, but I think everything will be fine, Good Luck Den

Hi Mark,
Are you getting any pain with the bleeding? If it is a fissure you would know about it. It would likely send you through the roof every time you passed stool. I would suspect that it's just friction from the jogging as the anal tissue is very delicate just like the inside of your cheek and if your surgeon doesn't seemed alarmed then I wouldn't worry too much. However, if you see any blood in with your stool or start to get any pain then I would get back in touch with your surgeon sooner rather than later. Take care. One glass of red wine per day is good for the heart..... it's just that mine's a big heart so I need a very big glass!!!! D-| Cheers! |

Do you have hemorrhoids? I do and when I see blood it is usually my little friends.

Thank you all for your replies. It seems the steroid cream helped with the bleeding. Although I seem to be much more sensitive to acids in stool when using it.

Hi - I have blood pretty much all the time. Went for an endoscopy about 6 weeks ago (just before a 3 week holiday to the far east). Doc said it was a mild case of pouchitis and it certainly didn't look like there was much blood on the screen. Gave me 3 weeks cipro. I felt great on holiday but still had blood - and still do. Every day, almost every wipe. The doc at my post holiday consult said to try VSL3 but never offered stearoid cream or pessaries even though I said the blood was still there. I still feel fine although do still have problems with continence at night. Should I see another doc and ask for stearoids?
By the way Shell - thanks for your advice before the holiday, the antibiotics made sure it was a good one, thai food and scuba diving no problem gillian |

Dear Gillian,
I would suggest you ask for a steroid cream. It cost me over forty dollars with insurance, but it seems to work pretty well. I use it every time I feel sore down there or if I am going to try a new type of exercise that I feel might strain me. By the way, I am glad you are able to get away with Thai |
