Mad UGH! I had my stoma closed 4 weeks ago, and I have had CONSTANT diarrhea and SEVERE butt burn ever since! I am taking lomotil, immodium, tincture of opium, and eating metamucil wafers. I have tried taking a lot of medicine and then taking just a little medicine...NO change! What is left to do? This is miserable.

What type of " thickening " foods do you eat ? How often ?

I'm post 2 + months takedown and I use foods like : Bananas / potatoes / rice / tuna fish / beagles and I add two or more of these in any type of combo through the day. I add Imodium 2X three times daily as well as morning and evening Citrucel ( sugar free ) drink. I stay away from refined sugar type of foods as well only adding fruit or yogurt.

Hi Annie - I had the same for ages - found that upping the dose of immodium to (up to) 8 a day, spread evenly over the day really helped. Effect seems to build up so after a few days will be better than straight away. Rice really helped, as did fatty foods like burger & chips - had some of my best days then! I still can't drink wine as it goes straight through. Stoma closed around 18 months ago. Hang in there it does get better - I thought I would need Calmoseptine forever but now don't at all Smiler! gillian

I had really bad butt burn too, but it decreased dramatically when I started taking Protonix (antacid). Thats really the only med I take now (well, I do on occasion use Calmoseptine as well, but thats it).

I think this soon after TD things are still early for you. Keep a food diary and to see what foods help and what foods give you problems. It will take some experimentation on your part, so give it time.

Good Luck!
