I had my ileostomy in February. I have been doing really well lately; until yesterday that is. For some reason I started experiencing very sharp, sudden pains right underneath the upper portion of my scar. It feels like someone is sticking a knife blade into me. The pains last for a minute or two, then becomes more of a dull ache for a few minutes then will go away until the next attack. Sometimes the pain returns quickly, sometimes it doesn't happen again for an hour or two. Does anyone have any ideas what me be going on? Thanks.

I wonder if it's an adhesion. That's all I can think it can be. I would assume it's causing a bit of a blockage at the site and that's the pain you're feeling. It may go away on it's own.

But give your doctor a call just to make sure.

I had pain like that after my first surgery, about 5 weeks out. One of the internal stitches was infected and had formed an abcess; once that was drained I was hunky-dorey.

No way to tell on your own what it is; definitely give the doc a call.
