I had my takedown August 4th and almost immediately after started with poughitis. I was put on the usual antibiotics<flagyl, cipro, and immodium. i dont know if this is causing my pain. also i have never weighed what i do know and im eating less, im about 12lbs over my normal weight. has anyone experienced this joint pain or wird weight issue? is it the surgeries, or the meds? i just wish i was back to my old weight and i could wear my rings and fit in my clothes..

You are less than a month post op...too soon to worry about weight...it will stabalize but for now your body is 'profiting' from the pouch..meaning that you are digesting/absorbing and your body likes it...so it is stocking...once your diet is stable and balanced and your activity level increases you should be able to straiten that part out...
As for the joint pain, it seems to be very common among us pouchers...could be the antibiotics like cirpo, could be an absorption problem or an inflamation problem...
I take 2 advils 2xs a day, morning and night...it has been a couple of years..I found that it works better than pain killers for me...I can not tell you if it will go away in the futur or not..you may wish to consult with a rhumatologist...
Sharon

It could be worse...oh, wait..it already has been! then I guess it can only get better from here....

Claude,
Please read "Dangers of Prednisone.." in this forum...your joint pain could be from many things, but if it continues, especially if it's in the hip or knees, do request an MRI to rule out osteonecrosis (aka avascular necrosis)for your own peace of mind.
