I've had chronic pouchitis on and off all year and have tried numerous antibiotics. Recently I was put on a combination of Entocort, Pentasa, and VSL #3 and it seemed to be working as the pain has decreased and I've been feeling pretty good the past couple weeks, however the past 2 days my stools have been looser and every time I've gone to the bathroom today there's been a considerable amount of blood - yet I have no pain. Any ideas why I would be bleeding all of the sudden? Could these drugs cause internal bleeding? I'm going to call my doctor first thing in the morning - but am a nervous wreck right now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd put my money on cuffitis. The penasa must not be getting to it enough. You may need mesalamine suppositories or hydrocortisone suppositories.

I had blood in my stools yesterday and freaked! It wasn't just a few drops like it sometimes is - I blame those on hemorroids. This time it was entwined in the stools (sorry to be so graphic!). Anyway, I feel fine, no pain, no fever, not increased BMs...and today I haven't seen any blood at all. Go figure. The sight of blood can plunge us into a panic after years of UC/Crohns. Good luck with your doc appointment!
