Hi Zeke,
I'm sorry you are feeling so poorly. That was a very long stay just for takedown, you must have had some pretty bad complications. Is it possible that you aren't used to your own bed? I know I have spent a lot of time (with a lot of month long stretches) in hospital and I found that when I first came home I had to get used to my own bed again even though the beds in hospital were relatively uncomfortable in comparison. I know you don't feel like it but keeping moving is the best option for you if this is the case. However, if you are feeling nauseous and/or running a temperature then a call to your doctor might be in order. I hope you feel better soon. Please keep us posted. Take care One glass of red wine per day is good for the heart..... it's just that mine's a big heart so I need a very big glass!!!! D-| Cheers! |

Do you have a lounge chair/Lazyboy? Many people have mentioned that they feel better if they sleep in that rather than their bed. I think you also need to contact your doctor. This sounds like a little more than just muscle pain from doing too much. But then again, if you were in the hospital for 26 days then maybe inactivity is playing a part.

No Fever, My muscles or what is left of those hurt my calfs, arms, thighs, and back. I was 268 14 weeks ago and 201 this morning. I really hope it's just from all the packing and moving around I did yesterday after not doing much for so long. I am trying to keep moving and seem to have no other symptoms, also may not be drinking enough but I am working on it they kept me so full of fluids in my PIC that I got out of the habit of doing it for my self.

You didn't stop taking narcotics suddenly, did you? I assume if you were in the hospital for that long you were probably on narcotics, so your body could be dependent. If so, you can't stop taking them suddently after a month or could suffer some withdrawl, which could cause aches all over (like a really bad flu). You did mention you took 2 Tylox - did that help?

It is getting better. Was unable to keep food down this morning but had some pheangrin?? called in and that helped in keeping food down. I have been taking pain meds all weekend and it did help. The pain is down and I am keeping hydrated. thanks for all the help I will be seeing the wound care nurse am Monday and I think I will stop by my surgerns office just to check in.

Could you be tapering too quickly (off prednisone)? That can cause widespread pain. And you are packing and moving around? I hope no heavy lifting. Maybe those muscles have not been used to working for 26 days. But tapering too fast can also cause these symptoms. Well wishes,

Hi Zeke,
I can tell you from my experience that I am know 38 y.o. and had my surgery done in 1986 - 22 years ago! One of I was only 16 at the time and very weak and about 85 lbs. Looking back, I had lots of low back pain after the surgeries and between the initial and the TD. I regret that my doctors did not recognize the need for me to be 'rehabilitated' - even as young as I was! If I could do it again - after suffering with my U.C. in the hospital for 3 months and then going for surgery, I would advise PT (Physical Therapy). Just in general for all of your aches and pains. This was my experience and maybe it is something you should consider... Good luck!! Michael |
