I know this is off the subject but I was wondering if anyone might know what is going on. Saturday night my bottom right ear started to hurt and I felt a lump and realized that the pain was going up to my ear as well. Today I wake up (after a somewhat sleepless night because of the pain)and the back side of my left ear is hurting. It hurts to turn either direction and to move my jaws. Before bed I took advil and it didn't work then a couple of hours later I took lortab and that didn't work either. Does anyone know what it could be? I have a Dr.'s appt. tomorrow to see what is going on. Hope someone has feedback.

It might just be swollen lymph nodes?? You may be getting some bug and your body is just trying to fight it off before it gets worse. Hope if nothing more involved than that!

Every once in a while the outside of my one of my ears will just ache! I have never figured out what causes it. It's almost like I slept on it wrong. Good luck...let us know what the doc says!

Is it the ear itself or on your skin over the back of your skull? If it is the ear itself, could be gout or something similar. If it is over the bone behind your ear, could be mastoiditis or an infected salivary gland. Either way, if it does not go away in a day or so, call the doc.

Your lymph nodes are in the sides your neck just below your jaw.

yeah, the swollen area is where the lymph nodes are. I felt another small lump on my right side where my neck and shoulder meet and that hurts too.My Dr.'s appt. is late tomorrow afternoon. We'll see..... Thanks for the input.
