I was wondering if anyone here has experienced eating just an egg white or yolk. I made an omelett a while back with the whole egg and whole moley it burned like nothing i knew! So I was wondering if anyone knew if it was the egg yolk or the egg white or both. I would like to ask before i experiment myself, we all know that is never any fun.

Just taking one day at a time.

Hi Lysie,

It was the yolk that burned me when I had my j-pouch. I have never had any problems with eating merangues or the egg white of a fried egg (Frank will always help me out with the yolk) but if I ate a whole egg I wouldn't be able to sit for a week! Eeker

However, now I have Wee Willie I can eat the whole egg in any shape or form without burn or pain, though the smell would strip paint! Eeker (which is why I rarely eat them! Wink )

It's all trial and error and what causes problems for one poucher doesn't for another!

Just go for it and see what happens.... but have the butt cream at the ready! Wink

Cool Shell Cool

One glass of red wine per day is good for the heart..... it's just that mine's a big heart so I need a very big glass!!!! D-| Cheers! Wink

The white is very low in fat but the yolk carries much more fat so I agree with Shell that white's less likely to give rise to a problem on its own.

I was thinking about foods today and was wondering 'why' is it that you can eat things and not have them bother you when you have the ileostomy....but with the pouch they affect you differently????
I realize that you may get butt burn with things with the jpouch....but there seems to be many things people with a jpouch can't eat and with the ileostomy they can?!
LYSIE......
I used to have a poached egg on toast daily and it never bother me....I just quit eating so many of them, switched to pancakes to try to gain some needed weight~~~ Maybe it's the way you are cooking them that bothers you??? If you are frying them that may be the problem.
Char.... Smiler

Thank you guys for the advice. I will probably try to eat another omelett soon, try just the whites this time. Char, I know it is screwy the way all of this works. I sorta miss my ileostomy, but at the same time I dont. A major advantage is im young and I wanna wear a bikini! well thats off the subject, but I dont usually fry with oil. I ate the eggs in an ommelet.
