I think I have a blockage, Pain and no BMs for 36 hrs. Will this resolve on it's own? How long should it take? Don't really want to go to ER. Prefer to wait it out at home if possible.

When a blockage lasts that long fluids are still being secreted by your liver (bile) and stomach and if it can't go down it will go up. I have vomited out a blockage (act of vomiting released the blockage) but I don't recommend you wait and see whether that will happen. Call your Doctor ASAP as you may need to go to the ER!

I had several blockages and only 1 resolved on its own without vomiting, but why roll the dice.

If you start feeling knotted up type pain it's not good.

Ditto what DJBHusky wrote. Go to ER NOW! I have had one once.. things can go from bad to worse very quickly!

Roberto,

After it clears please come back and post to tell us what happened. My thoughts are with you man! I have been down the blockage road a total of 4 times (including once immediately post-takedown but none in the last 16 years), and it is not a road anyone wants to take.

This is Bob's wife, Kim. They admitted him to the hospital. Dr. said he has a kink due to scar tissue. He also said that these kinks resolve themselves 80% of the time. Hopefully he won't need surgery.

Kim,

The one blockage I had post-takedown it was the same thing, and 16 years later it hasn't happened again.

I had a kink in my small intestine and ended up in the hospital for 6 days. Most of those days were spent in excrutiating pain and on morphine. My surgeon kept wondering whether or not to operate. Thank God he held off. He did have an NG tube inserted. Things just took care of themselves after 4 days or so. I was fortunate. This was about 5 years ago. Haven't had a problem like this since. Thank God!
