Hi All,
I am pretty upset tonight. After my last toilet visit I noticed I couldnt empty the last bit .It felt like something was still up there. I ate more fibre today then usual as I had been to work and wanted to make sure I didnt have to go so often. However this made emtying difficult and i had strained considerably to empty. To think of it I had been straining quite a bit of late during each toilet visit which was foolish.
So I had put my finger there to feel the bump I felt was there when i was wiping my bottom. It felt like a little ball of flesh on inside the rectum. At first i thought maybe i got a hemmoroid.I still dont know if this is what it is. I then looked in the mirror in good lighting and saw a half inch perhaps in diameter red ball of flesh moving in and out of my anus.Is this a prolapse?
If so,,can it be temporary ,,and if i stop straing will it correct itself?..
And how can i tell if it is just mucosa or full thickness pouch prolapse?
Very stressed out by this..tears etc,,really do not want to have more surgery again so soon.
Any comments would be helpful.
Thank you

I would definitely call your doctor and let him take a look. In the meantime, try to eat soft foods so that you won't have to strain to empty. I hope it's not prolapse, keep us advised.

Good luck,

janna

I've experienced that myself but also saw white on it which really scared me. I do have pouch prolapse but one Dr. was not concerned with it at this time. White spot was probably dead tissue from having a hemmroid. Another Dr. after several visits wondered if it was causing me to think stool is there. So far I don't think that is a problem b/c I know stool is there. I have also been straining but not sure if it could cause the prolapse. If stool has more consistency I have problems emptying. Its either one way or the other no matter what I do. I'm afraid straining will cause more problems with prolapse. What you described is what I see but try not to worry until you see a Dr. Maybe you won't need anything done right now. Dr. told me of surgery that can be done but said only wanted to do it if he knew for sure that is my problem. I don't know but it seems like if the prolapse is a problem it would be continuous not just when stool has more consistency. Not sure if this helps any but its what I know about it.

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that you are having a problem, I too get stressed out about these pouch problems.
I had quite bad hemmoroids about two years ago, I never looked in a mirror but I did have the experience several times where there would be something protruding out of my anus after a bowel movement. Sometimes it would go back in, a couple times I had to manually 'push' the hemmorid back in with my fingers (so scary for me!). Hopefully it is just a hemmoroid and not your pouch collapsing, I think not pushing and keeping with soft foods for a few days may help.
It is hard not to push sometimes though, especially if you feel rushed or you want to make sure you're really empty. I hope you get this resolved and are okay!

Janna is right and you should contact your surgeon to put him in the picture. It may be nothing but it's better to have it looked at if only to put your mind at rest.

I know it's the weekend and you probably won't be able to talk to your surgeon until Mon, so in the meantime a soft to liquid diet should keep you comfortable. Try not to worry tooo much, which I know is easier said than done.

Let us know what your doctor says.

Take care.

Thank you guys for yr replies,,just cant think streight right now. It can be a hemoroid but i thought they are not round..or are they?..
And it is reasonable to wait and see how i ll do on softer more liquid diet for few days.
I have spent more time on the toliet trying to empty without straining. I did push a little as I felt i needed to and evacualted soem stuff out of pouch,,it was soft and runny. Like you said Pixie, its hard not to push as i do need to empty it!..
Another thing that occured to me is whether just sitting there with bowels open for 15 min at a time is actually causing the pouch to pop out.
I hope to get some sleep with this,,things look brighter in the morning usually.
Thanks again
x

Hey Martiangirl - I had haemarrhoids after giving birth to my son (now 32).

The nurse at the time said it looked like a cherry, so I guess it is round and red coloured!!!

I had been constipated up to the birth - that or straining/diarrhea can cause it.

Try not to worry. I'm pretty sure you'll find that's what it is.

Puddy, it did look like a cherry as it happens!..And i ve been reading up on hemmoroids today so now I am thinking that is what it may be.. Still need to have it looked at though. Funny how fear and panic strikes you sometimes.
Is your hemmoroid gone now?
I have found this page on rectal problems which gives indepth descriptions of possible causes of symptoms:
http://www.sandyclinic.com/about_hemorroids.php
It certainly educated me as to what is in there!

My piles (sick of typing the posh word for it) came and went for years. Well they shrink back but return if constipated or if you get the trots!

When they started bleeding quite badly, after many years, I had them injected and they're much better now.

Ewa,
How are you doing? Did you get things checked out or did the problem go away?
Hope you're better!

Pixie,
No still have blob of tissue, like a small cherry there. I had been trying not to strain now when i go. But its difficult to find ahappy medioum between liquid bms and too much fibre.

I ve put a call out and am awaiting for my surgeon to get back to me.
