Hey Big D,

Dr. Dean did my surgery too. I even have had the honor of working with him in the OR a couple of times. He is great!

Dr Dean has gone above and beyond for me. He has taken my calls in the middle of the night, met me at his office on weekends. Called to check on my after hours.

Very caring doctor.

Jeff,

Don't despair, there is always someone that will help you. The most important thing you can do as a patient or prospective patient is to open a good line of communication so that the other party knows how to treat you. Be certain that you are hearing what the experts say, but also that they are hearing what you are saying. Sometimes you need to correct them, repeat information, and be firm.

I've read a lot of your posts and I know you have been through a lot of difficulties and multiple surgeries. However, I don't fully understand everything that you are trying to say or looking for answers about - so I wonder if the Dr's are having trouble understanding your situation and what you are looking for too. Maybe it will help to write notes or questions so that it is easier to effectively communicate with them and with any nurses that set appointments or are the "front person" for the various Dr's. And - what kind of Dr. are you looking for - a GI or Surgeon?

And also, there have been a few members here that went to UofM for surgery and were very happy with their outcomes. Or - if it is a dire need and you need multiple opinions you can check with your insurance to see if they will cover Mayo Clinic or Cleveland Clinic - I highly doubt that they would deny you treatment.

Good luck to you.

Rick

Oh they know what is up I,m still very ill, cramp's going to the bathroom every 10 mins , I go to the bathroom when I sleep not leak bowel movements, I have ED..... I feel like plain crap every day weak , no balance etc.

I can not keep food down I throw up randomly sometimes... the list goes on and they been told by my wife and we write stuff down in letters and hand it to them when stuff comes up so we never forgot I been to the doctors in my life to know to write stuff down because you may forgot or may not explain it right.

They nearly killed me and admitted it sort of speak. and a lawyer thinks its medcial malpractice and plans to prove it because to what is going on and lack of help i'm getting if I have to go this route I plan to just to get help . Sometimes in life you have to fight for it and I plan to.

What is not to understand not to be rude but they know... My body has been through alot and may be all related but I hear one story from one doctor another from someone else etc ..

This gets old because nothing seems to work.. I also i'm in pain 24'7 near my stomach area.... hernia's .

They may not have a fix to me as i'm so messed up from all these surgries in my life all the drugs etc couldn't have been good, my doctor told me when I woke up from coma was like. you scared me young man never had that happen.. make's me think to he also said sorry when I was taken back into the OR what was he sorry about ?

Doctors arent perfect but they can make mistakes there human but won't ever admit to it.. why should they would ruin there career would you? I don't want anything from them except help if they can not help me say I messed up your screwed something...if they did that is.

Confused Wow, JeffM. You are in a rotten situation. I agree with Rick, you should definitely hook up with Cleveland Clinic. Depending on where you are in Michigan, they're only a few hours drive. I go there. I fly from Atlantic City to Detroit, then drive from Detroit to CCF in 2 hours. I don't fly direct unless I have to because of $$. They are amazing and won't give up easily. I was told that Fazio is the only one in the world that could legitimately say "we've done all we can do". With that said, don't give up hope! Like I said, CCF doesn't quit easily. Give them a chance to give you a new life. I've been to the edge of reason, the end of my rope, but my husband and dear friends wouldn't let me quit on life. No matter how hard I tried. I alienated them and at times didn't deserve their love, but they didn't give up on me, so I didn't give up on me either. It was a tough road, but I am surviving, more than that, I am living. It's not easy, it's a battle everyday, but I am learning to take baby steps and accept my limitations. This is the only chance you get at life, don't give up on it.
Come here and vent and let me know that you're hanging in there. Think about getting help, the right kind of help, so that you won't have to suffer anymore. You deserve to feel well and be happy.

As I said I been to cleveland clinic before surgery a few times and now I can not afford it.

The current doctor I go to was trained by them.

anyhow I went to see a new Gi today and she wants to help so we will see since I can no longer see a new surgeon. I will try this route.

Jeff,
Has there every been any discussion on getting a permanent ostomy or is that not an option? I never read anything you've written about it so I was just wondering...

Hi! Jeff
I can understand what you are going through now. The docs thought they might have misdiagnosed me after the path report from my first surgery. They hadn't done a colonoscopy for a few years before my surgery. My original surgeon said he would not do the second surgery to reverse the ileostomy because he thought I had Crohns. I would be stuck with the bag!! I was totally furious because I only found out he didn't plan to do the second surgery through one of his associates!! He had not told me this for nearly 3 months! I was hospitalized for an abscess, and they thought this could be the start of Crohns.
To make a long story short, I wanted to sue the doctors. Well, I found out he is at the TOP of the totem pole and no lawyer would take my case! I think word got out when I started to ask for all my medical records.

I was fortunate to find a new GI and surgeon to do the second surgery. My doc in NYC requested the slides from my path. and concluded I did not have Crohns.

We would not have won any lawsuit unless I died, I think.

So be careful with any hints of malpractice. Could this cause the docs to be reluctant to treat you, not that they can’t help you?

You wrote "a lawyer thinks its medical malpractice and plans to prove it because to what is going"

Not to say you don't have a case, but some docs can throw their weight around.
I hope this new doc finds all the answers to your problems. Good Luck!!
