I went camping over the weekend. In a trailer with a bathroom of course. I made an ommlet yesterday morning with cheese, red bell pepper, and mushrooms. It was sooooo good! But later that evening when i went to the bathroom it burned really bad. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this experience with red bell peppers. I was thinking maybe because i didnt vein it. But i can eat a jalepeno with no problem. Or maybe it was something else.

It could have been anything - including different water. Next time you go, slather on butt cream while you're camping just as a preventative. I hope you had a great time out there.

Lysie,
I have eaten raw Red Bell Peppers evey night in my salad before and since getting the J-pouch (7yr's) with no problems. Sometimes it can be a hidden ingredent that isn't even hot to the taste, that can burn the first couple of times we go. That has happened to me, then I can eat very hot tasting things like salsa etc and never have any problems. Its wierd. gloria...Life is like a Dance, you learn as you go. |

Lysie,
Could it have been the eggs? The first few months after takedown I had really bad burning whenever I ate eggs. It got better with time and I can eat them with no problem now. Good luck and as Kathy said, butt cream can really help. Hope you had a great time camping. |

If you had lots of sugar that day, too, that might be it. Sometimes when I eat lots of processed sugars (bread, candy), I feel the burn

Thank you guys for the advice. I was thinking that it might have been the eggs too, lynnZee. I guess I will just have to try them both seperately and see what the reaction is.

Hey Lysie ... I'm gonna vote for the eggs as well. Maybe even a combo of all of them. But eggs still do give me some of the burny-burny from time to time ...
Hope your experiments go well! Take care ... kennymac |

I'm saying it's definitly the cheese. I've found that foods like quesadillas or mac andd cheese are massive nono's since take down.
It could also be a mix. A couple things that cause small problems which multiply each other when eaten together. |
