I am new to the group and have a question for Jan D. I had my surgeries in 2005. Since these surgeries I've experienced two mysterious things. Five times I've had the sudden onset of chills, riggers, migrane headaches and spiking fevers. Three times I've had the sudden onset of severe nausia that leads to vomiting and also get severe body aches and fevers. With most of these events I've gone to the emergency room where they do chest x-rays, cat-scans and blood cultures. Each time they all come back negative. No infections, no bacteria. These bouts usually last about 4 hours but yesturday I had another one that lasted all day and all night. I still have a low grade fever right now. Jan, have you ever heard of this happening to anyone? Help if you can.

I'm sure Jan will be along. I just wanted to let you know that sometimes weird things happen after surgery and they never find a reason for it. If it's been coming and going relatively quickly I would think it's not too serious. But goddess Jan will correct me if that's not true.

If you had a hidden abscess, I'd think the spiking fever and chills would last longer or linger in some way.

I hope you can figure out what is going on. Welcome to the site.

I'm sure Jan will be along....but when I read your post the first thing that came to mind was gall bladder. My gall bladder disease presented with fevers like you describe. Just a gut feeling.

Good point Lori. I didn't realize that gallbladder attacks could cause temp spikes.

Could be from partial obstructions. Gallbladder sounds like a good culprit too. But, since they are short lived symptoms and resolve on their own, you may never know what is going on.

One thing that troubles me is the association with migraine. I would hope that the studies done when you went to the ER included a head CT to rule out meningitis. I have heard of some migraines associated with fever, but this is an odd collection of symptoms.

Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass.
