I just a scope done today and my GI gave me Pico-Salax to drink the morning of to clean me out. I also had to drink the same stuff for a small bowel follow-through a couple of weeks ago. I have tried the enemas but found that because I still had food coming through they weren't able to see enough. I don't enjoy the drink cleansing so I went on clear fluids for a day before the scope and only drank half the stuff so that I wasn't cramping and going all day long.

I had the same hesitations about having a scope done when he kept saying "colonoscopy" I kept saying, "you do know I don't have a colon right? have you ever done this on someone with a JPouch?" So how often should we get scoped? I have to say that I've felt like I'm just done the last few years. If I go see a Gastro doctor for a check up or just to see if I can find a doctor I trust and they want to run all the same tests on me I've had done a million times over the last ten years to "see what's wrong with me." I say forget it. I've refused to let this one guy run all the scopes and tests until he got me in the hospital when I had a blockage and I didn't have a choice. I guess I'm just tired of having every doctor run the tests and then saying, "well, you seem to know your own body, call us if you have a problem." It's like they all expect to be able to figure something out the one before them couldn't. Sorry, that's my rant. I'm sure I should be scolded and not so angry about having all the tests but do you realize how fried my insides are from all the x-rays and crap we've all been through? My ovaries are probably producing scrambled eggs down there!

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones, I don't have to prep at all. I don't, but I could eat or drink right up until the test. My surgeon recommends scopes with biopsies once a year. I'm not sedated, and it's really quick and painless.

Funny you ask - I see Dr Bauer and no prep is necessary. Even the prep for the BIG surgery was lighter than I expected.

I just had a scope and had to use halflytely. I meet with my surgeon who asked that my GI do the test and ask him if I need to do that in the past. I kept asking the same question-You know I don't have a colon? The scope came out clear so I hope I am done for a while. It did not show any pouchitis and hopefully the biopsy was clear. I will find out Tuesday.
