I am new to this site. I had j-pouch surgery 6/09, and take down 8/15. I've been feeling wonderful...no complications. I've had strange abdominal pain a few times. I thought it was due to overeating, but it's been chronic for the last 4 days. It's a dull, consistent pain that radiates around to my lower back. My abdomen is sensitive to touch, and it does feel more sensitive around where my ileostomy scar is. I have no fever, no other aches or pains, and I go to the bathroom normally. Has anyone else experienced this? Could it be an adhesion pulling? Could it be pouchitis? THanks for your advice and info...I'm about to call my surgeon, but I wanted to check with you all first
It could be either or both or partial blockage. I have often pulling pain right below where my stoma used to be. My surgeon said it seemed to be adhesion, but he recommend doing nothing and hoping it goes away. Since your pain radiates from lower back, it could be pouchitis, which can be treated relatively easily. Please keep us posted what you surgeon advices. Wish you all the best.
