Hi all! Quick history, have a temp loop ileo since August 07 after problems with pouch.
For about the last five days I've had severe upper left abdominal pain. It's slightly to the left of the midline and about four fingers below my ribs in that area. When it started I figured it was from a gas bubble or something, then thought maybe it was a muscle somehow, although it's not widespread, just in one local spot. It hurts when I move and hurts terribly when I press on the spot. It's hard to tell but I think it's getting worse since it's now hard to stand up straight. I'm getting worried. I made an appointment with the nurse prac. at my PCP's office for tomorrow morning but does anyone have any idea what this could be? Online I've seen things about spleen and pancreas in that area but there's no nausea or vomiting as are listed as possible symptoms. I did start taking Flagyl last week after I started having bad pouch pain after the flu. Even though I'm disconnected I figured my body got out of whack from the flu which brought on pouchitis. I've been on Flagyl many times in the past with no similar problem so that might just be a coincidence? Any help is greatly appreciated! OUCH!! Thank you! Erin I live for my son! Step One: April 8th, 2005 Step Two: June 15th, 2005 Temp loop ileo again: August 15th, 2007 - due to unknown pouch pain. |

Pancreatitis comes to mind, but since you don't have related symptoms, it is less likely. Could be from adhesions or even a deep abscess.
Can't really tell without proper diagnostics. Jan Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass. |

It could be a peritoneal cyst. Peritoneal inclusion cysts are thought to be caused by an accumulation of normal fluids in the scar tissue from abdominal surgeries. They are generally found in premenopausal women who have had abdominal surgeries!! I have a cyst now that is causing me terrible abdominal pain. So bad, I went to the ER. I take pain pills constantly. This cyst is hard to diagnose. It is somewhat rare. There are only a few Jpouchers that have this problem. I hope to have it drained soon.
You can do a search on this topic to see all the symptoms. I hope you find relief soon. |
