I had my takedown procedure on wednesday 12th March 08, all went well and I was out of hospital on the sunday. I began to recover well since and was eating, drinking normal and all was working fine.
2 weeks out of hospital I began to go for short walks at night and even started a little driving to a friends house who lives nearby.
3 weeks after my operation, I started experiencing abdominal pain like had when I left hospital I first noticed when I was walking and just thought I had a stitch. I have the same pain when I get up, roll over in bed, open doors, and I dont like to walk up straight etc. The pains not the problem, Im just worried that Ive started doing too much too soon, and Ive undone a bit of the work going on down there. However Im going to the loo fine and its all controlled etc. Ever since the pain began, Ive been resting in bed a lot just like i did when i came out.
Any help would be appreciated
thanks

and.. woop! woop! no ileostomy bag! hehe

Hello!

I had the same problem after my step 2 and 3 surgeries. I was feeling pretty good after I came home from the hospital and after a week or two, I started to go downhill. Both times it was an internal infection that was the culprit. I waited it out till i was in too much pain, and ended up in the ER....but after a couple days of IV antibiotic I felt soo much better, and soon after the pain completely disappeared. So before it gets worse I recommend you call your doctor and ask for an x-ray or ct scan to find out why you have increasing abdominal pain.

The one thing that could explain it is simply that you are healing and sometimes it hurts to heal. A could comparrison to that pattern is with rotator cuff surgery. The surgery isn't so bad but you can have periods of fairly intense pain while it's healing.
Obviously if it's gone beyond tollerable or you feel something is happening then get yourself into the doc. Everyone is so different, it's hard to pick one true reaction to things..
One thing that tends to happen are little pockest of free fluid can develope and they can be painful. I have had 2 of them but both resolved on their own. I have heard of people needing to have them drained..
