I am really getting discouraged. Ever since my j-pouch construction at the end of Nov I've been in pain. I felt pretty good before and I am starting to wish I just would have gone for the perm ostomy in the first place. I've been on canasa and rowasa for about a month now and it did cut down on the bleeding but my bum still hurts almost all the time. I've yet to have my takedown and I can't find any pain relief I can't imagine post takedown. I had an abscess but my last CT scan showed that it had drained. I understand if it is still inflammation of the rectal cuff the next real option is a mucosectomy or pouch advancement. My surgeon mentioned that he's not sure if its cuffitis that is the only problem, what are some other possibilities? Nerve damage? Inflammation of the seam (not the anastomosis site)? Pouchitis?

The last time I emailed my GI and surgeon they told me to give the canasa and such time to work and get the maximum benefit. Well it seems like almost instantly it helped with the bleeding but the pain still persists and I haven't seen any improvement for a while. I guess next I would need to get scoped so they can check if they can see any other inflammation. I need to get a hold of my GI and see her.

I guess I needed to think out loud for a while but still, any ideas? advice?

When i had my surgeries my butt hurt a lot too. It wasn't unbearable just constant (especially in the evenings) and pain meds didnt seem to touch it. This didnt go away until about six weeks after take down, but it did go away. I have some cuffitis and have has some pouchitis but i think that the pain was related to the surgeries. I think that others on here have had similar pain as well.
