Haven't been online for a few weeks, my daughter is dealing with another issue in addition to the "maybe blockage", we are waiting on a biopsy result for that. As far as the blockage goes, she still doesn't feel "right" she says, but she does not have any pain. She still doesn't take any immodium, but she was taking 12 a day prior to the blockage. But she says she still is not right, and she goes about 4 to 6 a day (which would be super if she felt good in her gut) She is really not in any pain, her bowel movements are sometimes formed, but she just says she felt better before this all happened and there had not been any real improvement in the past 2+ weeks. But some of you said it would take time. It's been almost 2 months since it first happened. She never got an answer as to what it could have been from the other GI.
She saw another new GI dr. (he studied at Mt. Sinai and Lahey Clinic,I found out this info online) anyhow he said 2 weeks ago when he first saw her that her last gi dr. doing the scope at the time who thought it may be a kink, did not give enough information for him to understand what may have been her problem. It could have been a blockage, but this new GI was saying that maybe it was a stricture, not at the anus but where the pouch was constructed and attached to the small intestines. He said he would like to take a look and see if he could get past the pouch into the small intestines and see if there is any narrowing there. He said that if there is narrowing or scar tissue that he could dilate the area ever so slightly with a ballon like thing, but he would have to be very careful not to dilate too much.
Now he is a GI dr. and this is the first time we met him and it concerns me when anyone scopes her pouch, just because that was such a delicate and specialized surgery and I don't want anyone to take a chance on messing things up in there (I probably worry too much) so we asked if it would be okay to wait a couple of weeks and see if she improved. Well the couple of weeks is up and he said he would like to do a sigmoscopy and see if he sees any problems.
Does this sound like a good plan? Or should she wait longer to see if she will improve more? My daughter just wants to get an answer to what it may have been and why she still doesn't feel like she did prior to this happening.
Thank you.
