hello everyone this is Kennies wife in desperate need of advise (jan are you out there???)my husband is having a bad bout of pouchitis right now,complete with the shivers and sweats and headache and feeling generally rough now running to the bathroom goodness knows how mant times even through the night.The shivers/sweats have stopped now and he started with flagyl today do you guys carry on with the probiotics whilst taking the flagyl? and is usual to get flu like symptoms with pouchitis? usually he doesnt, his bathroom trips increase manyfold but thats about
it . I would appreciate any advice please.He has had the j pouch 4 years now,and we have both found this site very helpfull,thankyou Kennies wife. |

I don't continue with probiotics when taking Flagyl, but some do. I just really don't see the point. I simply resume them after the antibiotic course is done.
Chills and fever are not common with pouchitis, but general flu-like malaise is. It is possible that he actually has the flu, a rotovirus, or even food poisoning. It is not uncommon for pouchitis type symptoms to develop with other diseases. I know that my first and worst case of pouchitis was following food poisoning. Jan Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass. |
