I'm 32 yrs old and have had my J-pouch for 20 years! All has been GREAT till the past 6 months or so. I have been having very loose stool and not as much control over it coming out. It also seems that when I think it does need to come out i just go a little? Since all this has started i have also been having lower leg pains (don't know what that has to do with it?) i have an apointment in late June to see a doctor, but i'm scared something BAD could be wrong...Like i said i have had hardly any problems till now.
thanks! |

Sounds like pouchitis. Can't your doc order you some antibiotics to see if they help your symptoms while you wait for an appointment. Otherwise, try to get an earlier appointment.
Jan Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass. |

If it is pouchitis, then antibiotics will work right away. As Jan said, you should call the Dr. to see if they can call in a prescription for cipro or something and if it works then you know. Just curious, have you been getting regular scopes over the years? And what if anything have you taken to have such success over the years.

to be honest, i had my first scope last year. i have just been REALLY lucky!
i have tried to get an earlier apointment, and i'm on a medication for IB, it seems to help some. thanks for your concern. |
