I can so easily sympathise with you Jeff,
I had to fly back to Toronto each time for surgery because no one in Europe will touch me...The British guy who could have helped refused and the French guys look down their collective noses at K pouches so I flew back each time for 3 months a pop and lord knows the entire cost of the thing once you take into account the loss of income ++++++
I can only reccomend DR. Zane Cohen in Toronto who is in fact an angel..very consciencious and caring even if I pose the most complex problems to him...
If you have travel insurance and just happen to fall ill while on vacation???? Maybe? Who knows?
good luck and hang in there

So what are you supposed to do if you move or if your surgeon moves? Someone has to care for you! That makes no sense. I am under the care of different surgeons now because my surgeon moved. Now it did take me a while to find a surgeon that works on and with J-pouches. Some people wouldn't touch me because they didn't have the knowledge but it wasn't because someone else did the surgeries. That makes no sense! Call the other three.

Try calling or e-mailing Cleveland Clinic and explain your situation and ask for a recommendation of a surgeon in your area that can deal with problematic j-pouches and complications. There are many surgeons who are alumni of the Cleveland Clinic. You can try the same with Mayo. Good luck. You shouldn't have to work that hard to get the care you need while being in the midst of health problems.

I don't see a reason why no one else will treat you. I've had five different surgeons now, the first one moved back to his home country, Austria, the other got deployed overseas, the third I stopped seeing because he was a moron, the fourth one I stopped seeing because she was also a moron, and now I've got another one.

Well I see no reason either but they will not.....not happy and that raises good questions I wanted to move out of state i'm I stuck here bah as far as cleveland clinic that's who gave me my current doctor he was trained by them.. I 'm going to see a internest sp? doctor tomorrow gonna see if she can give me anwsers to my illness and if I like her see if she can find me a local doctor.

Mayo won't even look at me because of the type of insurance I have I tried before surgery original.

Hmmm...talk about being between a rock and a hard place? Makes nationalized medicine look pretty good. I guess there is no perfect system anywhere. It's a crying shame there are so many people falling through the cracks. I sure don't expect my doctors to answer to my whims, but I also do expect them to give me good explanations when they cannot do what I would like them to do.

I wish I had a good solution for you.

Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass.

Jeff, I can so understand where you are coming from. I had terrible complications, lost my business and my husband just about lost his. We went into major debt that finally after 7 years things are just finally turning around. I just cannot believe that no one other than your surgeon will see you. I did not find that happen to me at all. I saw 3 surgeons just in my hospital here in NY alone plus an emergency consult with Dr. Fazio over at Cleveland. I even had surgery to remove my j-pouch scheduled with Dr. Fazio when another surgeon here called me to come back to him to see what he can do first. Call Dr. Milsom at NY Cornell. I would be shocked if he or one of his staff would turn you away. He is one, if not the best j-pouch surgeon for problems in the world. My own surgeons and GI doctor arranged all the consults for me. I know it's hard when you have no money but it's your health, your life and you have to do what you have to do.
Been there, done that. I never thought I would get out from down under.
PS After reading some of your old posts you might even be in need of a good GI doctor as well.
Susan

So far I found 7 doctors in michigan who do j pouch some just do perma ostemy etc and so far 4 have turned me away and 2 are in U of M 3 -4 month waits. AND 1 nobody has heard of but I guess I will call him tomorrow and see ...I can't leave state can not afford to or I would ...plus my insurance doesnt cover alot of stuff. Ya I lost everything I worked for had my first house at 18 lost it at 29 and my wife and I finally got some help but we are on threads again I need to get back to work already ......

Freaking doctors need to get there head out of there behide and help me or send me to someone that will .. I went from making 8,000 a month to making nothing my wife and I sleep in my house with no heat water electric and then they finally came and took my house and I sold my race car that I put all my hard work into since 16 and sold it for next to nothing to move out and ended up staying with some family part time...

Then after lots of fighting lawyers we got a place and some cash but this is not gonna last forever and is not very much money my wife works but she never got a career and jobs are hard to find here in michigan that pay if you do not have the schooling. I was the main money maker and had a awesome career and was good at it .. I found rare problems and hard to find problems with automobile's and such also built race motors and wanted to do it since 12 yrs old took alot of learning schooling and more makes me angry to think I may never be able to do it again ..

Also I fix alot of people stuff that got ripped off or cheated in my line or work ued to tick me off when people did that. anyhow was venting ... I needed that.. anyhow I won't give up gonna seerch all week month year if I have to.. has to be one doctor grrr
