i was at doctors geting wound care and getting my bag changed when i had a shot of mucous come from the bottom of my ileostomy , not the main hole but from underneath. the nurse tried to explain and said that is normal and there is another opening. can someone explain this?

It sounds like you have a loop ileostomy. A portion of your small intestine closer to your stomach has been lifted up and folded in half like a garden hose and then cut partially through and rolled back like a turtleneck and stitched onto your skin. This creates two openings, one from your stomach to small intestine, which most of the effluent comes from and one opening that leads to your jpouch, which can produce mucous sometimes. Good luck!
