looking for people that it actully helped them getting this done due to incontience night or day... please share experinces.


I'm going next wed after nearly screaming at my doctor to do this as he would tell me to wait I can't wait as I take a poop every time I sleep /knap now its happening when I go to the store it just comes out.

I think I have damage back there and he has been putting it off and I seen studies and such where people got alot of help after they knew what was wrong but they say if you wait to long it may never work again. By the way this has been going on since last march going on one year. its not leekage its bowel movements, and its not loose stool there turds in my pants I know it sounds bad but had to stress its not loose stowl...

I, too, thought I had lost complete control of my bowels. I ended up wearing rubber/plastic undies over my regular underwear. Every time I pulled up to a certain intersection, I had complete loss of bowel control. Each time!!!! It got so I decided to keep myself protected and just forge on! When I got where I was going I'd change completely. I finally decided to just give in to the disease. Then, a GI specialist told me I had forgotten what it was like to feel well. She was so right. A few months later I had my colon removed and a J-pouch constructed. Hanging from my side was a temporary ileostomy. While I was only supposed to keep the baggie for a few months, I decided to keep it a full year. I felt so wonderful for the first time in years and once I solved the problem of finding an external appliance which worked for me, I decided I could (if need be) keep it forever!

already have the j pouch also had the bag I still had leaking problems even with no butt......Even my Gi agree's there is a problem that most did not have .. after the trama my body went through after the coma I was in I still do not have funuction of my legs full finction and my private's I have ED I also have alot of wierd pelvic problems.. I went from 160 to 398 in the coma with in the matters of days from all the swelling and water in me so I know this all plays a huge role now to find the right doctor to find out why/how to help me I would give anything to get a one day break from craping my self...... I hear alot of folks saying and talked to they have to but not every time well I have it every time no joke thats what bothers me more than any problem with me...

Anyways hoping this emg gives me something if so I may head to ohio to talk to a doctor there although we can not afford it I may sell a few things just to go to see this doctor, he is at the college not CC that deal's with incontience problems and even gives surgery /retrains the muscle... we will see.

Jeff, I had an EMG many years ago. It was inconclusive for my particular problems at the time.I would type EMG in the find area and be sure to uncheck the box that says search this forum only, there are several threads with information from members that may help.

What is an emg?

EMG- electromyelogram

The function of muscles are tested for strength by running electric current through them. This is not too common for rectal issues. This is usually done in connection with peripheral nerve conduction studies on the arms and legs.

More commonly, transrectal sonography (ultrasound) is done to test rectal muscle strength, along with anal manometry.
