If the burning is on the outside, try some regular vaseline on the affected area. It always worked like a charm for me, and helped protect the skin from the liquid passing over it. I always used it immediately after using the restroom.

Vaseline is good, and so is desitin. The zinc in desitin will help to heal the area. Is pouchitis a worry? Didn't you have a recent surgery? If you started a new med, that could be a factor for the burning. Also, do you have hemorrhoids or possibly a fissure? The hydrocortisone suppositories will make a raw area burn even more. If you have any lidocaine or numbing agent, use that first, then use the hydrocortisone after 15-20 minutes. Also, are you using metamucil or anything? Is the burning on the outside or inside? I will check back on this thread later, hope you feel better!

I just returned from a 9 day cruise and for the first five days I had almost constant butt burn. Definitely was related to food or foods/drinks but I never figured out which one(s)? Probably the wonderful cookies/desserts they had! I'm glad to be home and back to my regular intake of foods which are all I need/want and never leave me with butt burn!!!!!

I had a bad night wed and a bad day yesterday, food related, i went all day yesterday and the burn was miserable . I have always used anti fungal powder to dry it out not keep it moist, when I knew i was done last night i used a glove to put the powder on and i woke up clear as always. this doesn't happen often but i have had my pouch 20 years and i swear by it and diet!

Ed, my husband has the same exact thing. He has been miserable since last weekend. He is going in for surgery Nov 14th, but the burning, aching and constant rush is driving him nuts. He can spend 45 minutes in the bathroom too. He feels like acid is coming out.

Holly, the dry powder sounds like a plan, I will have him try it.
