Pancreatitis?

I just found out that my enzymatic levels shot up from 600 to 900 to 1800 over the course of these last three days. My surgeon and his assistant are concerned because I have not been eating anything aside from ice chips, which I stopped consuming yesterday. They don't know why my pancreas is acting this way but believe it could be infected, possibly agitated during the removal of my colon, etc.

Did anyone else ever develop issues with their pancreas following step 1 of their J-Pouch procedure?

Aside from the enzymatic levels increasing, they say I look fine otherwise and show no other ill effects. Just curious.

Are you in pain? And are the doctors calling it pancreatitis? I recently found out that I have chronic pancreatitis and my pancreas is shrinking. It is mildly atrophic. I am a little ticked off, because this was just noticed by my new GI. I had had a CT scan last summer and when he was reviewing the surgeon's notes and the pathologist's report he found this out. Of course, this is after told him about my symptoms. I am going in for more tests. The GI thinks my chronic pancreatitis is either due to UC, surgery, medications.

I am glad that doctors are monitoring this for you now and can keep an eye on your levels before there is atrophy.

I wish you a speedy recovery

From what I can tell, the pancreatitis just developed because my enzyme levels tripled in the last three days. The surgeons think it developed as a result to irritation during the surgery perhaps due to it's close proximity to the colon.
