Yes, I have had it all..

IPS...emptying all night and suffering sleep deprivation
Sore arse 24/7
Several rectal abcesses
Two rectovaginal fistulae
A squad of chronic anal fissures
And did I mention my hands are all dried up from frequent washing; I cant get pregnant; I have aged badly in the face due to stress and I have chronic anemia.

Its TIME FOR A CHANGE..Anyone who has gone from J POUCH to Kock or BCIR can you comment? Will I be released from this torture or is there more to come??

panpan, I am so sorry that you are having such problems. Go to the K-Pouch corner, Marriedguy had his jpouch removed in September and now has a kock pouch. You may want to post this in there, you may get more responses. I hope someone comes along soon.

I didn't go to BCIR or k pouch, but a perm ileo and have had great success and health since (2003 and counting). I opted for the ileo vs a k-pouch or BCIR because I just could not have handled it if there were complications with the BCIR or k-pouch and I then ended up with an ileo. I didn't want to waste any more time being sick or dealing with health issues. While ileos aren't risk free, I felt that the risks were lower and the treatment easier to get and more time tested.

In Jan 2006 I delivered a healthy baby boy. Life is good. No meds, eat what I want, trying for baby #2.

I havent gone from one to another, but I have a koch pouch and I love(well I don't love it but it's better than the altenative) which is being sick, having fistulas, which I did have, sore bottom 24/7 yep, all the other crap,(pun intended) and I do recommend the koch pouch as a much better way to live than you are know. Your plight sounds familiar. I also suffered for many years with pouchitus, cuffitus, IBS a failed pouch, abcess's and any number of other things. I knew that after having two JPouches created, I probably didnt have enough intestine left to create a Kock Pouch or BCIR so I had sort of accepted the reality that I would go with an ostomy. Iknew that an ostomy would probably rid me of most of my problems (though like most of this, adds its own problems and mental challenges). I didnt want to mess around so went to "the best surgeon" for this sort of thing, Dr. Fazio at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohil. After meeting with him, he assured me that I had enough intestine left for a KPouch and would be a good candidate for it. I was shocked and pleased. I decided to go ahead with it so I could try and get back to a normal life. As was said already, I had the surgery at the end of August and other than a slight mishap recently, have been doing very well. Would I do it over again? In a heartbeat. If this wasnt available, I am sure my life would have been better with an ostomy as well, but being as vain as I am, this was much easier to digest (so to speak).

If you do decide to go ahead with a KPouch, I would go to every effort to get the best surgeon possible (Surgeons at the CC would be my recommendation with Fazio at the top). The KPouch is supposedly the most difficult of GI surgeries and is not to be taken lightly. I have put my wife and I in a small amount of debt just so that we could have a happy life together (fair trade off I suppose). For me, the stress of being in debt for a few months is definitely worth a brighter future.
